Alison Price

Overview

Alison is a visual artist based in Perth. She graduated in Fine Art from Duncan of Jordanstone in 1999 and has currently returned to study for a Master of Fine Art.

Her work is rooted in observational drawing and begins in places of connection in the landscape. Her love of not only observing but being in the water means that the flow of water often features in her work. Initially drawing or painting on location, she responds to the sights, sounds and atmosphere of a place or moment in time allowing her mark-making to express the sensations she experiences.

Materials offer another level of connection, so depending on the mood or subject Alison will freely move between fine calligraphic marks of transparent ink on rice paper to thick layers of acrylic paint on wooden boards. So, although her subject and approach may shift from one series of work to the next, her aim is always to suggest a feeling that the viewer can connect to.

In addition to her own practice, she delivers life drawing sessions and workshops for Stroke Patients and others with long term health conditions. Enabling people to learn new skills and develop their own creativity has a positive effect on health and recovery is a wonderful way for Alison to share her passion with others.
