Overview

I paint because I feel compelled to capture the beauty, power, and mystery of the natural world, and to share the sense of wonder it gives me. Since completing my Honours degree in Fine Art in 1996, I have been fascinated by horizon lines: those places where land, sea, and sky meet, holding within them balance, perspective, and the promise of what lies beyond.
My paintings are not just landscapes; they are emotional journeys. I layer bold colour, intricate texture, and shimmering highlights of glitter to bring light alive on the water, creating surfaces that shift and change as you move around them. In doing so, I hope to evoke the same magic I feel when standing before the sea, watching the horizon dissolve into possibility.
Often, I paint familiar Scottish landmarks, not in a literal way, but as vessels for memory and imagination. These places carry stories they may stir recognition in a viewer, or awaken forgotten moments of joy, stillness, or wonder.
My work has been exhibited across the UK and is held in private collections around the world. This journey continues to affirm my belief that art can connect us across distance and experience.
At their core, my paintings are beacons. They are created to connect, to comfort, and to remind us that even in turbulent times there is always beauty, always resilience, and always light to be found.
