Gillian Henshaw

Overview

Gillian is inspired by the colours, textures and tones of flowers and a love of and interest in interior design, immersing herself in creative experiences outside of the studio to glean ideas and inspiration. Visits to the Chelsea Flower Show, RHS Gardens and London Design Week have been recent influences. Her paintings are infused with colour and her work is always fresh and lively. Working predominantly in oil paints and pastels on canvas, Gillian's art is mostly floral but she also enjoys abstract and landscape paintings especially of scenes in Scotland and rural France.

Gillian spent fifteen years working in financial services in the UK and Paris, France and having had a family in 2007, she then embarked on the start of the journey which has led her to where she is now. Predominantly self taught , she has studied Landscape Painting at The Leith School of Art, completed Paintbox Art School courses, Edinburgh School of Art courses and sought mentorship from artists such as Kate Philp, Mary Davidson and Aine Divine. She exhibits in galleries throughout Scotland.
