A native of Dundee, Jim is a highly respected professional artist with over 40 years of experience. He began his career as an illustrator for children’s comics and women’s magazines and later became the senior illustrator of a successful art department at a large national publishing company. He subsequently served as the Commissioning Illustrations Editor for one of Scotland’s most popular and established magazines.

For the past thirty years, Jim has focused his paintings on the Scottish landscape. His work is most recognisable for its ability to capture the atmosphere and light of our mountains and forests. He primarily works in watercolour, enjoying the spontaneity and unpredictability it offers. However, he is also comfortable with other media including pen and ink. He is highly experienced in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Corel Painter.

Jim exhibits regularly and his paintings are displayed in galleries across the country. His work is highly sought after both at home and abroad, including Ireland, Spain, New Zealand, the USA and China.
Jim resides in Monifieth, Scotland.
