I was born in Dumfriesshire in 1948 and I am now in the lucky position to be living in Kintail on the Highland West Coast.
I come from a very artistic family so I have always enjoyed painting from a very young age. From 1971 until 2016 I was involved in the hospitality industry. Throughout the years I enjoyed painting in watercolour and then finally mixed media and whenever I had the opportunity I would go on painting workshops. Then in 2016 I did a four month portfolio course in Ullapool which encouraged me to take up painting seriously.
I built a studio in my garden overlooking water and mountains so my inspiration comes from watching the changing colours of the sky and the landscape. My work is very varied and I love to add texture and movement in all my paintings so as to bring intrigue.
I work mainly in acrylics along with other media such as inks and collage to give excitement and structure to my work. My main exhibitions have been held in the National Trust Gallery in Balmacara and also at An Talla Dearg on the Isle of Skye. Many of my paintings have been sold to buyers overseas, Southern Ireland, Greece, America, Australia and South Africa.
